وزير المياه والري يبحث مع القائم بأعمال السفارة الامريكية مشاريع مائية 

استقبل  المهندس رائد ابو السعود وزير المياه والري في وزارة المياه والري القائم بأعمال السفارة الامريكية السيدة كارين ساساهارا بحضور مديرة بعثة الوكالة الامريكية للتنمية الدولية (USAID) بالانابة مارغريت سبيرز حيث تم استعراض سير العمل في عدد من المشاريع الممولة من الوكالة الامريكية للتنمية الدولية والمشاريع المنوي تنفيذها خلال المرحلة القادمة لتحسين التزويد المائي في جميع مناطق المملكة .
وثمن الوزير عاليا الدعم المتواصل والمقدم من حكومة وشعب الولايات المتحدة الامريكية خاصة لقطاع المياه وتمكينه من تجاوز التحديات الكبيرة خاصة في ظل جائحة كورونا (كوفيد -19) والحاجة الملحة لتنفيذ مشاريع اضافية تكفل تأمين العجز الكبير والمتزايد والارتفاع في الطلب نتيجة ازدياد الاستخدام المنزلي حيث ارتفع الطلب الى اكثر من (610) مليون م3 بسبب جائحة كورونا (كوفيد -19) معربا عن امتنان وتقدير الاردن  لهذا الدعم المتواصل والذي له اكبر الاثر في التخفيف من العجز المائي وتأمين مصادر مائية اضافية متطلعا الى اسناد قطاع المياه في تنفيذ عدد من المشاريع الاستراتيجية الهامة مثل مشروع الناقل الوطني وتحلية مياه البحر الاحمر وكذلك مشروع توسعة محطة تنقية السمرا ومشروع محطة تنقية الطفيلة والمشروع الوطني (NRW) خفض الفاقد والتي سيكون لها أكبر الاثر في تحسين خدمات المياه والصرف الصحي .
وأشار المهندس ابو السعود ان الاردن يواجه ظروفا مائية تفاقمت مع ازمة كورونا بارتفاع الطلب على المياه للاستخدامات المنزلية الى اكثر من 40% وبالتالي زيادة في المياه العادمة التي تنساب الى محطات معالجة مياه الصرف الصحي  .

من ناحيتها عبرت القائم بأعمال السفارة الامريكية السيدة كارين ساساهارا عن سعادتها البالغة للتعاون البناء والمثمر خلال السنوات الماضية مؤكدة على  اهتمام الولايات المتحدة في توسيع آفاق التعاون وتقديم حلول في مجال ادارة المياه الحديثة من خلال تقديم المساعدات  والخبرة الأمريكية خاصة من خلال الوكالة الامريكية للتنمية الدولية ( USAID) واكدت اهتمام الوكالة بالاسراع بتنفيذ المشاريع المائية الاستراتيجية والتي ستسهم في تطوير الواقع المائي وتحسين خدمات الصرف الصحي  .
 
Minister of Water and Irrigation discusses water projects with the Charge’ d’Affaires of the U.S. Embassy
 
Eng. Raed Abu Al Saud, Minister of Water and Irrigation at the Ministry of Water and Irrigation, received the acting Embassy of the United States of America, Ms. Karen Sasahara, in the presence of the Acting Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Margaret Spears, where the progress of the work was reviewed in a number of projects funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development and projects to be implemented during the next phase to improve water supply in all regions of the Kingdom.
 
The Minister highly appreciated the continued support provided by the Government and people of the United States of America, especially to the water sector, and to enable it to overcome the major challenges, especially in the light of the Corona pandemic (Covid-19) and the urgent need to implement additional projects to ensure the large and growing deficit and increase in demand as a result of increased domestic use, where demand rose to more than (610) million m3 due to the Corona pandemic (Coved-1). Expressing Jordan’s gratitude and appreciation for this continued support, which has the greatest impact in reducing the water deficit and securing additional water sources, looking forward to supporting the water sector in the implementation of a number of important strategic projects such as the national carrier project and desalination of red sea water, as well as the expansion of the Samara purification plant, the project of the Tafileh purification plant and the national project (NRW) to reduce waste, which will have the greatest impact on improving water and sanitation services.
 
 
“Jordan is facing water conditions that have worsened with the Corona crisis, with the demand for water for domestic uses rising to more than 40 percent, and therefore an increase in wastewater that flows to wastewater treatment plants,” he said.

For her part, Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy  Ms. Karen Sasahara expressed her great happiness for the constructive and fruitful cooperation over the past years, stressing the Interest of the United States in expanding the horizons of cooperation and providing solutions in the field of modern water management through the provision of assistance and expertise of the United States, especially through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and confirmed the Agency’s interest in accelerating the implementation of strategic water projects which will contribute in developing water conditions and improve sanitation services.
